First Show Report

It's been two days and now I've finally been able to post about the show on Saturday. My boyfriend and I had an absolute blast at my first show. We got up at 6 am and were at the Suburban Showplace in Novi by 7:30. I so nervous setting up the table that my hands were shaking. The ladies at the surrounding tables were very helpful, when I had a question (and I had lots of them) they had answers for me. I went into this show hoping for just one ribbon.....
Jake helped set up and we were ready to go!

Nervous!

Brought him to show off my work and ended up putting him in performance

This Valor is super cute! I loved him!

Rose Reiner that was in front of us :)

Jake was partial towards this trotting Stone drafter (Which won Overall Grand Champ in OF Stone)

The woman with these horses had great performance set ups

My very first win came with the Foal Stock Class, Don't Tell My Boyfriend won 1st in Breed and earned me my first NAN card. She also got third in Collectability. It was such a large class the judge had to put the pink  hand down for more time. My second ribbon came in the Light Foal Class with a custom I painted two years ago, Lots O Spots.

He got 4th place in workmanship!
My next win was super huge! My mystery ISH Masquerade swept her class!! 1st in Breed and 1st in Collectability, I think I was dancing on the way back to the table with her.
Not bad for someone who was $50!
The Paint Class was up next and I got 3rd place with Formal Attire in Breed

The Mustang Class was next and I got 4th place with Britannia but I forgot to take a picture of her. When I went to go pick her up there was a note that said please see judge. So I took her back to the table and since I hadn't been able to watch the judging from nerves I didn't know who the judge was. Elizabeth (a very helpful Judge next to us) pointed out a lady named Karen and I went to go see her. Karen said she really loved my horse except for a mark on her tail and offered after the show to fix her. I thanked her and went back to the table. I told Jake and Elizabeth what the judge had said and Elizabeth said Karen Zorn is so nice and I my eyes went wide.....KAREN ZORN? THE MODEL HORSE PAINTER? Lol. I was shocked, I love her work and she had been judging the OF Stone table all morning and I didn't even know it!!! I was totally geeked that she offered to touch up my horse and that she had been awarding me ribbons. It turns out she lives in Ann Arbor which is just a short drive from where I live. So later when I have time and we can get together I can hopefully have her touched up. Masquerade was called back up for Section Champion round and went on to win Reserve in Stock Class!

Up next was the Thoroughbred Class and I had my Valor with me.

Karen Zorn's Valor and my Affirmative
There was also the Valor with his tongue poking out but I took the picture before he was brought up. Affirmative went on to win 1st in Workmanship and 3rd in Breed. Elizabeth really loved the craftsmanship of my Valor who was painted by Lisa Bickford.

Now while I was super happy about Affirmative earning a NAN card it was the OF Stone table that I was blown away with. Mr. Stinky Face swept the Thoroughbred class AND went on to win Champion in his section.

After the Thoroughbred Class we didn't have anymore entries so we walked around the expo until the Performance Class was up. I had entries in Western Pleasure and Costumes. Some of the entries were amazing!
Brinkman got 3rd in Western Pleasure, my work is now LIVE SHOW QUALITY!!
We didn't have any entries in other classes so while the performance classes were put up and taken down I took pictures.

After all that was said and done the section champs and reserves were all called up. I didn't win anything but I did so well all day that I didn't mind. And I got to meet Karen Zorn. Hopefully I can feature her in another blog post in the future. Jennifer is always having horsey related days, why can't we?
