Frozen, Elsa, Let It Go and horses

Unless you've been living under a rock I'm sure you've heard about a little movie called "Frozen". Well this year at the 2015 World Championship Freestyle Reining in Lexington KY it helped Laura Sumrall and Wimpys Top Model earn the winning title. Below is a link to this amazing performance!

Please be sure to watch it! Several of us in the hobby have been inspired by this reining run and have created set ups/dolls to match.

Tiffany Purdy's Version (Credit to Tiff)

And finally, I've been working on my own version. I'd had the idea since I saw Laura's run for the title but after seeing Tiff's version I felt creative!

Needless to say this took me a while since I'd never worked on a doll before. I decided to re-hair the new version of Brenda. Apparently not even some doll makers will attempt this! But the original doll didn't have long enough hair nor was it the right color.

I started with pants and the skirt first since that seemed the easiest part. I had intended to use fabric for her sleeves but I just could not get it to behave! So I cheated!

I plan on getting some great pictures with her in the snow we just got today/tonight. I'm very excited for my first doll makeover and can't wait to use this set up this coming show season!

Sweet Home Chicago

I was one of the 200 that was chosen to attend the Sweet Home Chicago event that was put on by Breyer in Illinois. It was AMAZING! To hang out with my hobby friends without the pressure of a show. And it was a real girls weekend with no cats, dog, or future husband. We were taken to Arlington Race Course, Dancing Horses, and Temple Lippizans. It was such an amazing weekend and I wouldn't have traded the fun I had with my girls!

For those that know me personally on Facebook you can check out more of the pictures I took that weekend. Such fun!

Home Sweet Home

So another exciting thing that happened this summer was the house we bought! We moved back to Grand Rapids and into the nicest neighborhood. As soon as we had the keys I started making changes!

A picture of the livingroom before I did anything to it.

What the livingroom looks like more or less today. I wish I had a picture of the whole room but we have been doing some more work and it is kind of messy. All I can say is that the room doesn't even look the same ! Next post and I will show you the horse room :D

I really should blog again....

I was at a show on Saturday and walk talking to some people and they made me realize that maybe I should get back to my blog. I didn't realize I had fans that miss my blog! So as a start back I'd like to take a second to recap some things and as to why I stopped blogging. Many of you know I lost my two favorite people in the world last December and since then I haven't felt much like blogging. I'm trying to work on changing that, even if I blog about the most mundane things.

So with that said I'd like to mention something very exciting that happened over the summer! I was honored with the opportunity to write for Breyer in this year's edition of Just About Horses. I was beyond excited and as many of you know it is hard to keep something like that a secret! JAHs are arriving at homes all across the county and world so be on the lookout for my article!

In my next post I'll tell you about another exciting thing that happened this summer!

Featured in Jen's Blog

Jen has been having some issues with a hobby slump so I offered to write a guest blogger post. I'm always honored to be able to write a post for someone I followed for so long. This post will explain why I've not blogged or created much in the way of tack for about the last six months. I'm slowly getting back into it but my creative juices may not flow until we end up moving this summer.

Welcome back

It has been well over a year since I have last posted on my blog. There has been so much happening in my life that my blog was the last thing on my mind. I won't go into details about the last year but I hope to try and keep up on my blog again.

Currently I am getting ready for the Show For the Cure 2015 show next weekend. It has been a long time since I showed in Illinois so it should be interesting. My most recent completed tack set was a parade set. I knew I needed one in order to compete in that class so I finally made myself make one. The results aren't too bad and it earned Sommer Solstice (Kilbourne's Ranch Mare by Prosser) her very first NAN card at New Year's Bash Live in Ohio last weekend.

For now that's all I have to report, hopefully I will have more soon!
